A tree that should stay
The flowering cherry tree should be cut down. The Kunstschule Mittelweser then launched the cherry tree project: With their pictures, the students wanted to show what would be lost and to use their art to preserve the tree.
When painting in the open air - so-called plein air painting - the young artists looked at the tree directly on site. They studied its shape, its branches, and the rich pink hues of its flowers.
Many very personal pictures were created from the same motif. Together they became visible voices for the cherry tree.
